Pashmina effect
talking wraps, capes and shawls, also in the notes Souer x Sophie Roe collection, Khaite goodies on My Theresa sale, The Row, Pucci, Alaia and more
As I re-watched Frida, I spotted Salma Hayek wearing red velvet dress with gorgeous floral shawl over her shoulders just before the Tango scene and I asked myself, is history repeating itself? Scarfs, wraps and shawls are everywhere, it’s hard not to notice them.
I remember vividly, back in late 90s, early 2000s, we used to reach out for pashmina as often as we reached out for a jacket. Pairing it with everything, literally everything, four seasons a year. It was very common to wear it wrapped around the shoulders as a cape, be it over the tee in summer or coat during winter time. Even designers used to make matching shawls to their dresses – chic. To keep up with the trend, my best friend wore her pashmina to the graduation party as an accessory to complement her dress. And when the trend finally died out, I swore, I will never repeat this look again. But here I’m entering the new era of pashmina with nostalgia and ready to embrace it again.
Just before sun hit London, I was cheating on all my spring coats with Almada label turtleneck and pashmina-shaped scarf combo. And although I swapped the turtleneck with a perfect white t-shirt for summer, I’m keeping my scarf close for chilly evenings.
Look: Almada turtleneck, Almada scarf, Munthe trousers, Phoebe Philo medium cabas, Saint Laurent pumps.
It didn’t end up there – I went searching for more inspiration and found Shereen Mohammad matching set with matching silk scarf.
The Row summer collection – all about summer layering and wrapping up.
Phoebe Philo idea to carry oversized scarf like a security blanket.
By Malene Birger cape which I want wear over minimal dresses for summer evenings, also this and this.
Rohe – offering cap-ey look on the silver platter with this top, so good. In fact the whole Origami capsule is it and Oranda dress sold out before I made my mind up.
And although I’m not usually big on prints, I found myself debating over for this Prada cape.
IN THE NOTES
Souer x Sophia Roe. Collection is a true minimalist dream, every piece of the collection speaks to each other in such an effortless way, you can mix and mach pretty much everything. I already picked my favourites. Naomi and Maya dresses, Vik scarf and Sophia Hairpin.

Browsing for Toteme skirt on Mytheresa, which is sold out most places, I spotted quiet sale happening, which somehow I missed. Went right onto Khaite looking for minimal jersey dress I saw last summer, but also found these sandals and one more dress.
Pucci x Mytheresa exclusive resort collection. Another print I wouldn’t mind experimenting with, it is such a Pucci dna. Love it.
Alaia finally dropped Le Click bag and I’m on the mission to find a small shoulder bag, this one is at the top of my list.
Everyone’s outraged about £670 The Row flip-flops and saying that these ones are the next best budget friendly option. But I’m still in my £30 all black Havaianas from last summer for now.
I splurged £48 on K18 dry shampoo and trialed it so you don’t have to, and can attest it doesn’t leave the white cast, lasts all day and only need a small amount, so I hope the bottle will go a long way. Reviews saying it’s best one so far aren’t lying. You can thank me later!
